GE15: Zuraida pleased with voter turnout in Ampang
LILYANA RIZALAMPANG – Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin is pleased with the high voter turnout in Ampang, today.
She said that the voter turnout had increased and predicted that the turnout was at 75 per cent.
“It looks like the voter turnout in Ampang is increasing.
“If the average is at 68 per cent, I would say Ampang’s turnout is at 75 per cent,” she said.
As voters headed to SMK Datuk Ahmad Razali polling station, they were in for a surprise as the Ampang parliamentary seat incumbent, Datuk Zuraida binti Kamaruddin, showed up at the polling station.
She said that she assumed voters came to polling stations early because they were worried about bad weather in the evening.
“I came out to vote earlier at 7.30 and I saw many youths had come out to vote,” she said.
She said that she hoped the positive response she received while campaigning would be reflected in votes.
Ampang parliamentary seat created history with a nine-cornered fight in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Zuraida faced MCA Beliawanis chief Ivone Low Yi Wen of Barisan Nasional (BN), Rodziah Ismail (Pakatan Harapan), Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif (Perikatan Nasional) and Nurul Ashikin Mabahwi (Pejuang).
There were also Warisan's Lai Wai Chong and three independent candidates Muhammad Shafiq Izwan Mohd Yunos, Tan Hua Meng and M Raveendran
