KOTA BHARU - Pas expressed its condolences to the family of Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate in the Tioman state legislative, Md Yunus Ramli who died early this morning.

Pas Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said under the Election Act, a new election must be held if any of the candidates for the parliament or state assembly dies.

"A new procedure must be used for the general election, as was the case in Padang Serai, Kedah.

"I would like to express my condolences to the family of the deceased candidate," he said when met after he cast his vote at Maktab Sultan Ismail (SIC) here on Saturday.

Also present was with his wife, Datin Seri Hariza Yusoff.

It was reported that Md Yunus died early this morning.

Md Yunus, 61, was believed to have died at 3.30am due to heart complications.
