GE15: Gloomy weather, drizzle at several nomination centres

SHAH ALAM - Gloomy weather and slight drizzle were reported at most locations of nomination centres for the 15th General Election this morning.

However, it did not dampen the spirit of the voters as stream of voters were seen lined up at their nomination centres as early as 7am.

In TITIWANGSA, the weather was gloomy but the long line that had formed proved that voters were determined to cast their votes.

Despite the drizzly weather at SK Taman Maluri, a voter is seen to start lining up as early as 7.20am.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission returning officers were seen still busy prepping up nine voting channels for the voters to cast their ballots today.

In PANDAN, Kuala Lumpur, it was also a gloomy morning but it did not stop the people of the constituency to come out early to vote at the voting centre in SMK Pandan Indah.

There are several people seen already lined up to perform their duty as Malaysian.

A voter Nur Zalikha Zulkifli, 32, said that she came early to vote because she want to make sure everything went smoothly and then she would accompany her husband to vote in Kedah.

There are six candidates for Pandan parliament; Rafizi Ramli (PH), Tan Sri Ong Tee Keat (Warisan), Muhammad Farique Zubir Albakri (PN), Nadia Hanafiah (Pejuang) and Datuk Leong Kok Wee (BN- MCA).

In PUTRAJAYA, it was also a wet morning but despite the drizzling rain, Putrajaya residents were still seen lining up early in the morning to vote.

Several volunteers at the gate assisted the newcomers while there were also a few hawkers seen setting up their stalls for later.

The residents there were also seen helping each other out to find the lines for their channels.

In AMPANG, the rain started to clear and voters arrived as early as 7.30am to exercise their right to vote.

As the rain clears up into a light drizzle, voters started to come through the gates of SMK Dato Ahmad Razali.

All officials were set up and ready to guide voters according to their designated channels.

In KOTA DAMANSARA, voters started to fill up Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 9 Kota Damansara despite the gloomy weather.

The weather had not stopped a majority of voters from coming to the polling centres early with their family members.

A majority of voters had chosen to keep their masks on even when staying further away from the crowds forming at the lines.

The polling stations positioned in the school were arranged on different floors with some senior citizens even required to climb the flights of stairs towards the second floor.

Also seen was a Covid-19 positive man was called to skip the line.

A voter Leng Hua Li when asked to comment on the situation said he believed that there should be a different centre for Covid-19 positive voters.

The voting process went smoothly even though there were a lot of people here.
