Mohd Faizal (two from right) along with Shahidan's lawyers lodged a police report at Arau Police Station today regarding the spread of fake posters of the Perikatan Nasional candidate for the Arau Parliament.
ARAU - The final day of the 15th General Election (GE15) campaign was marred by the spread of fake campaign posters involving the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate of the Arau Parliament, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim who was portrayed as a Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate.
Shahidan's election representative, Mohd Faizal Mohd Arif, said the party was only aware of the misleading posters after it was shared in a WhatsApp chat group this morning.
"I characterize this as an irresponsible act of misleading voters, especially the elderly and the new electorate tomorrow (Saturday).
"So far we have detected that there are three shops which are the location of the leaflet distribution.
"In this regard, today (Friday) I have lodged a police report about this matter," he told reporters today.
Mohd Faizal said the police report was made out of concern that some had deliberately taken advantage of misleading voters as Shahidan had represented BN before.
"I'm not accusing BN of doing (the poster) because I don't even know who's behind this.
"The spread of these fake posters has affected us a bit, but it does not affect PN's efforts to ensure that Shahidan wins the Arau Parliamentary seat," he said.
When contacted, Arau District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi confirmed that he has received the police report.
