GE15: Rafizi prepared to go to court for SPH acquisition issue

SHAH ALAM - Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Rafizi Ramli said he is prepared to go to court regarding claims brought up by former deputy Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz through a letter of demand (LOD) on Wednesday.

Rafizi admitted he welcomed the move by Hisham to file a lawsuit against him.

He said whatever issues being exposed was fact-checked first before being disclosed to the public for it not to violate any laws.

" I am comfortable to go to court because usually I have checked first to ensure I am within legal provisions.

"So, his lawsuit would be welcomed, we will continue it in court,"

Rafizi said this at the latest Sinar Harian programme ' The 15th General Election (GE15) Last Lap entitled 'No Majority: Are You Ready to Share Power' hosted by Kamarul Bahrin Haron.

Rafizi has been urged to pay the cost of general and exemplary damages as much as RM500,000 following slanderous statements regarding the procurement of Self-Propelled Howitzer (SPH) artillery cannons aimed against Hisham and his family.

He was also urged to stop spreading slanderous statements towards Hisham and his wife, Sinar Harian reported on Thursday.

Rafizi added that the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Tan Sri Azam Baki would be brought in to be questioned in Parliament if Pakatan Harapan (PH) wins GE15.

He stated that MACC would also be placed under Parliament to be monitored should PH win GE15

"It is not my power (to sack him). Among the matters that we want to do if PH wins GE15 is we want to place MACC under Parliament.

"If there is an election or Azam continues in his position, he would need to gain clearance in Parliament.this would meant he would be questioned and we will have a hearing session in Parliament similar to what would happen in other countries," he said.

Previously the PH Pandan Parliamentary candidate had warned Azam that the coalition would 'find him' regarding the issue of previously owned stocks if PH manages to form the next government.

This follows claims of a raid by MACC towards his company Invoke Solution Sdn Bhd regarding the the inspection of tax-related documents.
