Ismail Sabri has an advantage, say analysts

SHAH ALAM - Ensuring the prosperity and economic development of the country needs to be the main agenda of any government that will be formed after the 15th General Election (GE15).
Putra Business School (PBS) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Associate Professor Dr Ahmed Razman Abdul Latiff said, the matter needs to be given priority as the country will be facing a challenging economic landscape next year.
Dr Ahmed said, as the leader who led the country in the previous government, Ismail Sabri is seen as having an advantage in ensuring the continuity of the country's economic recovery plan.
"One advantage Ismail Sabri has is because he was in the government before. So, if he returned to the government, he could continue the previous plan, and would not need to start from scratch.
"We can also say that he can improve especially on the planning of Budget 2023 and what is stated in the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12)," he told Sinar Harian on Thursday.
He added that the plans that had been put into place by the previous government had the potential to enable the country to recover quickly in terms of economy.
" But the issue I saw happening before the dissolution of Parliament was that the government was in unstable position, the administration being too large and filled with individuals who were not qualified to satisfy many parties.
"That is why Ismail Sabri had once said that after this, he would like to reduce the size of the administration so that it is more efficient and fill it with people who are truly qualified to focus on the recovery of the national economy," he said.
