Elderly woman caught in floods rescued by firefighters

KAJANG - An elderly woman was rescued by firemen in a flood incident at Taman Pasir Emas here on Thursday.
Selangor Director of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Norazam Khamis, said the department received an emergency call at 2am.
"A total of seven officers from the Kajang Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene of the incident.
"We rescued an elderly woman who was wheelchair bound and brought her to a safe area," he said in a statement.
Norazam said the depth of the water was about 0.3 metres and it was estimated that 170 houses were affected by the floods in the area.
"The rain is light and the current water depth is decreasing," he said.
Meanwhile in a separate case, Norazam said his party also helped relocate residents in 14 houses in Kampung Sungai Pening, Semenyih followin floods in the area.
"We received an emergency call at 1.40am, a total of eight officers from the Semenyih Fire and Rescue Station went to the scene.
"We noticed that the flood waters had risen up to knee level and were stagnant on the road, but the situation is still under control," he said.
A user on Twitter had posted that the area around the Klang Fire and Rescue Station, Jalan Tengku Kelana was also flooded.
The 16-second video showed heavy rain followed by flash floods at the area.
The video which was recorded from a vehicle shows the vehicle passing the location of the incident which was flooded by water around 1am.
Norazam Khamis confirmed incident.
"Among the identified flooded areas are Seri Muda, Bukit Lancong and several areas around Klang such as Bukit Sentosa, Kota Raja and Andalas.
"Related information will be updated and informed, the fire department is now at the locations involved," he said.
