​​​​​​​Khairy agrees with PM's advice to focus on GE15

SHAH ALAM – Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat BN candidate Khairy Jamaluddin acquiesced to the direction of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who reminded Umno not to focus on the party's election.

Khairy said Ismail Sabri's statement was timely because the party must first win the 15th General Election (GE15).

In fact, he said, his main focus was also on GE15 and winning the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat.

"I didn't focus too much on the (Umno election) issue, (instead) answering one of the many questions asked during the interview yesterday (Tuesday)," he said.

He made the remarks at a press conference after the ‘Selangkah ke Menara Gading’ and Ikon Malaysia Townhall programme at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Puncak Alam here on Wednesday.

Khairy, who is also the Caretaker Health Minister, said the people want to see the new faces BN candidates fielded in this election.

"People would like to see a rejuvenation in BN (in GE15)," he said.

On Wednesday, Ismail Sabri reminded Umno to pay full attention to win GE15 and not be busy thinking about party elections.

The Prime Minister said Umno has six months after GE15 to hold party elections as approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

Media on Tuesday reported that Khairy said Ismail Sabri should be appointed as Umno President if he becomes Prime Minister.
