GE15: Pas' supposed hints in leaving PN
KUALA LUMPUR - Pas' decision to contest in the coming national polls using their own logo in Kelantan and Terengganu attests talk of its possible departure from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
This was the claim floated by Barisan Nasional (BN) election communication chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek who believes such a decision hinted that PN was starting to crack.
“Its interesting because I believe previously there was a crack within PN and their relationship between Pas and PN was like waiting to break apart, meaning that Pas didn’t believe that Pribumi Bersatu could lead PN.
“The reason being is that the top leadership in PN might lose big time in the coming general elections on November 19," said Shabery.
Shabery explained that this seemed likely following a statement by Pas secretary general, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan yesterday which touched on PN's readiness to collaborate with BN after the polls.
To a question on Pas' possible new allies if and only if the Islamist party exits PN, Shabery's reply was non-committal.
“It does not matter who will be their new friends, what’s important is the signal they which have shown; that they can no longer depend on PN anymore.
“And that they are ready to carry the seats they would win in the two states to join with any parties or coalition as they cannot trust PN,” he contended.
With that being the case, Shabery cautioned voters against voting PN because Pas will supposedly leave the coalition.
"So, I would like to remind voters, particularly those who do not want waste their votes, to vote for BN so that the coalition can form a strong and stable government," he said.
