REMBAU – Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the party's president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will not become the Prime Minister if Barisan Nasional (BN) won in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He pointed out that Umno had already decided that the Prime Minister candidate was Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

However, he said it was upon the discretion of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"Don't doubt it. But it is at the discretion of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. We can only suggest.

"Like in Johor, we suggest that Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad remains as Menteri Besar, but the Sultan of Johor wanted someone else," he said during a ceramah at the Kundur district polling centre operation room here on Tuesday.

Mohamad, who is the BN election director said Pakatan Harapan (PH) was seen to be constantly playing the issue because they have no other topics and was trying to mislead the people.

Mohamad said this included telling the people that BN would let go of certain leaders if BN became the government.

"During BN's 60 years of governing the country, how many of our leaders went to jail? Similarly, when Ismail Sabri was the Prime Minister, we did not intervene in the case of Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"But PH, as soon as they ruled the country, they appointed Tan Sri Tommy Thomas as the Attorney-General and the first job was to release Lim Guan Eng even though his case was still ongoing in court.

"There are also leaders who were sentenced to 18 months jail but the sentence was changed to a 20-month good behaviour bond," he said.

He said although there were still a few days left to campaign, the people were expected to have already decided which party to vote for in this election.

This, he said was because the people were sick of what happened to the country after GE14.
