GE15: PH capable of coming up with surprise win in the Putrajaya - Rafizi

PUTRAJAYA - Although Pakatan Harapan (PH) is labeled as the “underdogs”, they are confident that they could come up with a surprise win in the 15th General Election (GE15).

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the factor that could influence the matter was the state of the national narrative.

He said at a glance, people said PH was the most difficult coalition to seize an opportunity in Putrajaya because the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate was Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and PN fielded a minister who was Datuk Mohd Radzi Md Jidin.

He said the demographics of the people of Putrajaya are not much different from the Klang Valley.

"If you look at the support of the voters in Klang Valley, PH is already the front runner with Malay voters, let alone non-Malay (votes)," he said when met by reporters after attending a fundraising luncheon, here on Tuesday.

He said there were 90 per cent of voters in Putrajaya who were Malays.

“We see that the support for BN, PN, PH are equal although we are the underdogs and PH is able to make a surprise in Putrajaya.

“As long as the campaign, manifesto offers and voters attraction at the national level were excellent, it would be able to overcome the issue of how long a candidate was able to go to the grounds for their constituency.

“Outside of the city, the candidates have to meet the people earlier, or else the residents would not know them, but it is not the same case in Putrajaya,” he said.

He said voters in the city will see the contents of the campaign and through social media they will get to know the candidate contesting in their constituency.

In GE15, besides Tengku Adnan and Radzi, the other candidates contesting were Noraishah Mydin Abdul Aziz (PH), Datuk Mohd Rosli Ramli (Pejuang), Samsudin Mohamad Fauzi (Independent), and lawyer Lim Fice Bee (Independent).

Tengku Adnan has defended the Putrajaya seat for four terms since 18 years ago.
