IPOH - Perak Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu admits to the purchase of two yachts as revealed and circulated on social media recently.

He said both yachts were purchased at the price of RM50,000 and RM80,000 respectively from a European sailor who was stranded in Malaysia during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

The Tambun Parliamentary seat candidate explained the yachts were then modified for the purpose of tourism in Langkawi, Kedah.

"How I own the boat during Covid-19 is because of a sailor from Europe who sailed it to Langkawi Island.

"When we had the MCO he may have gone through the stress of living here alone, thus he made the decision to leave the country as soon as the borders were opened.

"During that time he searched for a buyer for the yacht and sold them at cheap prices," he said through a two-minute 32-second video recording on his Facebook on Tuesday.

He said this in response to the viral claims of him purchasing a yacht which was circulated on social media.

Faizal said the proceeds from the purchase of the yacht could provide employment opportunities for the locals at Langkawi Island.
