Razman's speech case: Police awaiting instructions from prosecution
SAIFULLAH AHMADIPOH - The Perak police have submitted investigation papers related to a report lodged against Perak Pas commissioner Razman Zakaria to the deputy public prosecutor.
This was in relation to an alleged defamatory remark made by Razman in a speech against Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the police were completing the investigation papers while waiting for further instructions from the deputy public prosecutor.
He said until now no one has yet to be called to facilitate the investigate into the case.
"The investigation papers have been given to the deputy public prosecutor recently and we are waiting for further instructions.
"So far no one has been called yet. It depends on the prosecution," he told reporters after observing the situation during the early voting process at the Perak Contingent Police Training and Sports Complex in Jalan Pasir Puteh here on Tuesday.
On Nov 8, the police conducted an investigation on the speech made by the candidate for the Gunung Semanggol state legislative assembly seat which went viral since Nov 6.
The investigation was carried out after the police received a report lodged by a 32-year-old man who claimed that Razman's speech was found to have contained elements of defamation and made with malice against Anwar.
The case is being investigated under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
