GE15: PN performing random attacks on Umno, Zahid claims
MOHD FAHMI ISMAILBAGAN DATUK - Perikatan Nasional (PN) is performing random attacks towards Umno by accusing the party will work with a coalition including DAP, says Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He claimed the attacks were made due to the PN’s hope to create a 'big tent' for all parties was not achieved.
"That's why they don't target their shots, they instead shoot randomly," he said after the Deepavali ceremony, here on Monday.
The big tent was a term used by Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to for the coalition of all opposition parties to go against BN.
In March, Zahid said Umno would not form any coalition with DAP.
When asked on how to convince the people that Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was the only BN candidate for the prime minister position after the election, he said the issue was subject to the discretion of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
He said he believed that the wisdom of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to choose the upcoming prime minister would use his powers under the Federal Constitution.
"I am confident that Agong, under his wisdom, would ensure whoever becomes the prime minister as soon as BN obtains a majority to form the government," he said.
Zahid dismissed the reports that the Umno election machinery was weak in certain areas, stating that voters' support was equally important.
He was confident that the weak BN machinery would be strengthened to grab the support of those from the BN component parties and those voters on the fence.
