KUALA LUMPUR - Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the current ruling government held the 15th General Election (GE15) too soon.

He added that this was not the right time to hold an election not only because of the floods but also because many of the coalition parties were not prepared for it.

"We should not be having an election at this time, not only because of floods but many of us are not ready to participate in the election, especially Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA).

"We need to be registered but the government purposely slow down the registration process of GTA and that is why they manage to hold the election before GTA can officially participate," he said in his campaign speech here, today.

He added the current government’s trick was to stop those who were against them.

GTA, a yet-to-be-registered coalition comprises of Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang), Parti Perikatan India Muslim Nasional (Iman), Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa) and Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra).

Since the registration was not approved by the Registrar of Societies (RoS), parties under the coalition would contest under the logo of Pejuang,

“We're supposed to contest in the election with GTA but we had to use Pejuang instead,” he said during his speech at Pejuang's campaign in Kampung Pandan, here, yesterday.
