Early voting for a total of 265,531 police and army personnel today

SHAH ALAM - A total of 265,531 voters consisting of police and army personnel will be the first group to cast ballots in the 15th General Election (GE15) today.

From the total, 146,737 consist of army personnel and their spouses, 118,794 police personnel and their spouses and the General Operations Force Police (PGA).

On Sunday Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) chief General Tan Sri Affendi Buang said MAF personnel and their spouses will vote at 153 polling centres gazetted by the Electoral Commission (EC) on Tuesday.

According to him, the voting process of members registered as Postal Voters began on November 7 up until November 19 (before 5pm).

"It is my hope that the voting process will proceed smoothly to enable each personnel to carry out their responsibilities as voters," he said.

For the 15th General Election (GE15) a total of 21,173,638 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots based on the latest Electoral Register (DPPR) and the Additional Electoral Register of August 2022 (which was updated until October 9) The DPPR for GE15 consists of 20,905,366 ordinary voters, 146,737 army personnel and spouses, 118,794 police and spouses, PGA and 2,741 Overseas Absentee Voters.
