PETALING JAYA : Barisan Nasional (BN) Sungai Buloh candidate Khairy Jamaluddin said he will support caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob in whatever role is assigned to him should BN emerge victorious in the upcoming polls.
“I will support him in whatever role that he gives me but the most important thing now is that we win first and make sure we form the government,” he said during a campaign walkabout in Uptown Damansara.
Khairy previously held the health ministry portfolio in Ismail's administration.
Meanwhile when asked about his current campaign to attract young voters, Khairy said he has been doing a lot of campaigning online using various social media platforms.
"We do campaign on the more traditional social platforms such as Facebook and Instagram but right nowTiktok is huge, Whatsapp is huge so a lot of my campaigning is done online,” he stated.
Khairy added that he felt there seems to be a wind of change in Sungai Buloh as it has been under Pakatan Harapan for three terms.
"There are a lot of basic issues that need to be solved, and a lot the constituents want a strong member of parliament with a good personality, experiences, and the stature to coordinate and draw attention to the problems that they are facing.
Khairy further added that he had fallen in love with the constituency and hoped that he would be allowed to serve the people here.
Sungai Buloh has been a PKR stronghold since R Sivarasa won the seat in 2008. He successfully defended it in the 2013 and 2018 elections.
The other candidates vying for the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat are R Ramanan (PKR) Ghazali Hamin (Perikatan Nasional), Akmal Yusoff (Pejuang), Ahmad Jufliz Faiza (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and two independent candidates, Nurhaslinda Basri and Syed Abdul Razak Long Alsagoff.
