Atan, 43, an entrepreneur, said the audience were not only entertained, but the show allows him to interact and get closer to the residents.
"It makes me happy to see the crowd getting excited and enjoying this traditional art which must be preserved and elevated as it can be used to deliver useful messages or teach the young lessons on moral values.
"The truth is, people in Indera Kayangan yearn for this kind of entertainment. So I came up with the idea of reaching out to the people through this 'village entertainment' and spread my campaign messages at the same time," he told Bernama here recently.
The native of Indera Kayangan said he would bring a variety of entertainment to the community if he wins the state seat.
Meanwhile, a resident of Taman Seri Medan, Mohammad Shuaib Mulah, 22, said he and his friends found the two-hour show by Padang Asun Jitra, Kedah Wayang Kulit Group appealing and informative.
Atan will be in a four-cornered fight against incumbent Gan Ay Ling (PH-PKR), Lim Weng Khee (BN-MCA) and Pramoot Puan (PN-Bersatu). - BERNAMA
