GE15: Election fever heats up in Rembau, voters ready to vote
REMBAU - The voters in Rembau are rolling up their sleeves in preparation for the 15th General Election (GE15) polling day just a week from today.
At the sides of the roads, flags of almost all political parties have been lined up the roadsides and banners to promote the candidates have been hung in many places in the town.
A resident Muhammad Azrai Aiman said the excitement of the people in Rembau to vote could be felt in the air with the election coming closer.
He said he himself was excited to vote for the second time in order to fulfill his responsibility as a Malaysian.
“I have been living in Rembau all my life and now I can feel the spirits of the people here to vote, with the roadsides full of flags of BN, PH and others.
“Also, you can see for yourself the banners for candidates all over the town, so it is obvious that the people here are getting excited to vote,” he told Sinar Daily.
Another resident who had resided in Rembau since 1999, Mohd Faisal Abu Zahar said there was a special ‘vibe’ felt as GE15 approached, and the candidates were also closer to the people.
He said that it was important for the people to vote in GE15 since it should be a responsibility fulfilled by all Malaysians for the future of the nation.
“I, myself will go out and vote on Nov 19 because it is a must, it will decide the future of our country after all.
“We are all aware of our country’s political instability since 2020, but I think whatever bad that comes from it could be improved and whatever (that is) good should be maintained,” he added.
Hisham Tahir, 54, commented that he could see the excitement for people in Rembau to vote.
He agreed that voting is a responsibility of the people since it involved the fate of the country and the young generation.
“From what I can see now, most voters here are excited and some could not wait to vote in GE15,” he said.
He added that he would like to advise the youth to go out and vote if they are eligible to do so because the election result will decide their future.
“Don’t be too focused to play games or things like that and ignore the importance of your vote.
“Do your part in the general election,” he advised.
Meanwhile, Rosmi Mohd Tawil, 52, said that he doesn’t feel anything much despite all this excitement for the general election around him.
He said the election was nothing too exciting and was simply something he had to do since the government asked that from the people.
“I am pretty neutral about this.
“The government has asked us to vote, so that’s why I will be voting and that’s all there is to it for me,” he said.
In GE15, Rembau folk would have five candidates to choose from as their representative.
Its former MP Khairy Jamaluddin of Barisan Nasional has moved to Sungai Buloh while former mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan will take on the seat on behalf of the coalition.
The other candidates are S. Tinagaran (Parti Sosialis Malaysia), Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus (Perikatan Nasional), Ramly Awaluddin (Gerakan Tanah Air) and Jufitri Joha (Pakatan Harapan).
