Clash of candidates proof of GRS-BN weakness: Jo-Anna

TUARAN - The clash of candidates between the allies of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) - Barisan Nasional (BN) shows their weakness as a government, says Parti Warisan (Warisan) candidate for the Tuaran Parliament, Jo-Anna Sue Henley Rampas.

Jo-Anna also questioned how voters in the Tuaran parliament put their trust in the coalition with the clash of candidates in the 15th General Election (GE15).

"How can Tuaran voters put their trust in this coalition, when they are clashing with each other, like in the Beluran area where Benedict Asmat (Umno/BN) clashed with Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (Perikatan Nasional) and all this is because of positions.

"This shows the weakness in this coalition as a government. How can this coalition have the ability to defend Sabah's rights? That is enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63)," she told Sinar Harian on Saturday.

The Wirawati Warisan deputy chief added that the coalition's action could confuse youth voters in Tuaran.

Meanwhile, on the manifesto for the constituency, Jo-Anna wanted to ensure that Tuaran is clean in various aspects.

"A clean Tuaran will encourage more tourists to visit and boost tourism activities in addition to the well-being of the people in this parliament.

"A clean Tuaran also means no corruption, so services by the local authority are better and meet the people's expectations," she said.

Other manifestos, Jo-Anna said included road infrastructure facilities, water and electricity supply, telecommunication networks and schools for the convenience of the people in the constituency.

"On the water supply issue, the Sabah State Water Department and all the authorities need to sit down and resolve the issue as a whole.

"Unstable electricity supply will be resolved, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) needs to upgrade all power stations in the Tuaran area.

"Telecommunications tower will be built in Tuaran, especially in rural areas to expand internet access for residents and cooperation between the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and telco companies will be implemented to ensure better internet facilities for the people here.

"Several new schools, whether primary or secondary, need to be built due to the increase in population. So new schools will be built in strategic areas to facilitate students' journey to schools as well as reduce the density of students in the existing schools," she said.
