SUNGAI PETANI - Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) would rather become the opposition if they fail to form a government in the 15th General Election (GE15) than combining with other parties that are considered destructive to the country.

GTA sponsor chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the cooperation with three coalition parties such as Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) was considered as establishing cooperation with "crooks".

He said if it was offered to become the coalition to form the government after GE15, GTA was prepared to be given the choice, but not with the three parties.

"It is better to become the opposition rather than working together with crooks," he said after attending a meeting with the public here on Friday.

He said the basis of the election of a government must be to select the best quality candidates.

"Do we want to choose those who abuse their powers to become the government? We cannot choose BN.

"PH, when they became the government, they became arrogant, they ended the employee contracts showing they are not concerned.

"PN formed the government through the back door, led by Mahiaddin (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin), Hamzah Zainudin (Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin) and Azmin Ali (Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali)," he said.
