SHAH ALAM – Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has claimed that women are unable to be representatives of voters in Sik, Kedah.

In a viral video on TikTok during a talk, he was recorded as saying: “At three in the morning, we could imagine how women sleep, moreover with their tangled hair. In that state, are they going to help flood victims?”

He said he did not mean to bring down women but the Sik constituency is a big rural area with many people in need, they would seek help from their representatives round the clock.

The Kedah Menteri Besar added, “(Women) even when getting ready to leave the house, also take three hours.”

He said this when campaigning for Pas parliamentary candidate, Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman in Sik. Tarmizi is defending his seat against two women in the 15th General Election (GE15).

They are Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) former director Datuk Latipah Md Yatim (PH) and Wanita Umno Sik division leader Maizatulakmam Othman (BN).

There are 63,135 voters eligible to vote for the Sik parliament in GE15.

In the 14th General Election (GE14), Tarmizi Sulaiman won the Sik parliamentary seat with a majority of 5,218 votes.
