EC urges those with information on voting irregularities to report it to MACC
LILYANA RIZALSHAH ALAM - The Election Commission (EC) urges those with information or evidence regarding possible bribery or corruption in the postal voting process to report it to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) immediately.
The EC said this in response to allegations of bribery taking place at the Bera parliamentary constituency in the postal voting process.
“If there are any acts of bribery or corruption in the postal voting process in the Bera parliamentary constituency as alleged, then those who have information or evidence should lodge a report to the MACC,” it said in a statement, today.
Earlier, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during an event in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu claimed that military personnel in the Bera constituency have already started to vote for the 15th General Election (GE15) by post.
He claimed that it was against the EC's rules that early voting will only take place on Nov 15.
He alleged that the voters were paid RM300.
However, caretaker Prime Minister and incumbent Bera MP Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri denied the claim, saying it was slanderous and aimed at tarnishing Barisan Nasional’s reputation ahead of GE15.
