'No need to declare assets' – Abdul Hadi

MARANG – Pas leaders do not own assets that are worth millions.
According to its President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang there is no need for its party leaders or candidates to declare their assets as most of them have a modest net worth.
" Our wealth and assets is not that much, others have declared millions while I don't think our candidates or leaders have even hundreds of thousands. So there is no need for a declaration.
" There are of course our members who are millionaires but they are not involved in politics." he told reporters after delivering a weekly lecture at the Rusila Mosque here on Friday.
Hadi stressed that there is no need to suddenly declare assets leading up to the 15th General Election (GE15).
" Your community should know how much your net worth is for years already, our candidates are in their own places, each community is familiar with their own leaders." he said
However, Abdul Hadi said Pas leaders who would like to declare their assets are free to do so.
Asked if Pas's stance on not declaring assets would be manipulated by the party's opponents, Hadi said Pas had managed to show a track record of clean leadership in three states.
" They (the opponent) can't do or say anything because there is no wrongdoing. We ruled Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah but none of our people were dragged to court but its a different case for Pakatan Harapan (PH ) and Barisan Nasional (BN)," he said.
