GE15: I am still an 'underdog' candidate
FARAH SHAZWANI ALICYBERJAYA – Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Sungai Buloh Parliament Khairy Jamaluddin still considers himself an 'underdog' in the area.
He said although he was confident of winning the seat, he still needed to work hard and be realistic considering that the constituency was a Pakatan Harapan (PH) stronghold.
"In this life, we must be confident (of winning), but that confidence must be balanced with realistic expectations.
“(For) this area, it is difficult for BN to win because the majority is more than 26,000, in addition to it being an urban area.
"So, I still consider myself an 'underdog' candidate but, I try to meet as many voters as possible and approach them through social media.
"We are approaching the halfway point of the campaign, (it is not easy).
“My wife (Nori Abdullah) goes every day to help with the campaign," he said at a press conference after he launched the Cyberjaya Hospital, here, on Friday.
Khairy would face six other candidates in the Sungai Buloh Parliament, namely the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate, Mohd Ghazali Md Hamin, R. Ramanan (Pakatan Harapan-PKR), Mohd Akmal Mohd Yusoff (Pejuang), Ahmad Zuflis Faiza (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and two independent candidates Syed Abdul Razak Syed Long Alsagoff and Nurhaslinda Basri.
Sungai Buloh Parliamentary seat is considered a 'hot seat', which was won by R. Sivarasa from the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) with a majority of 26,634 during GE14.
