Floods during GE15 will be bad for country’s political scene - Amirudin
GOMBAK - Selangor Menteri Besar Amiruddin Shari said if floods take place during the 15th General Election (GE15), it will have a toll on the political scenario in the country.
This comes after there was a rumour that said the election could be postponed if Covid-19 cases were on a rise as well as if floods were to happen in the coming days.
"This is (based on) the report from the meteorological department and it is true that by this week we can see a huge and very high amount of rainfall.
"I believe that if that happens (election to be postponed due to Covid-19 cases surge and flood), it will be the biggest mistake that causes bad impacts of the political scene in the country with the uncertainties," he told reporters when met at the Senior Citizen Centre here as part of his campaign programme, tonight.
He added that the suggestion not to dissolve the Parliament too early had been made by various parties since the beginning.
"We already suggested that in the beginning, but they (Barisan Nasional) call for the dissolution of the parliament too early.
“We have to be ready for the floods," he added.
Of late, the rumours of election possibly being postponed were heard due to the heavy rains and flash floods which took place at several states in the country.
Apart from that, the number of Covid-19 cases had slowly climbed up over the few days.
