GE15: 'Khairy qualified to be PM' - Ismail Sabri

AYER HITAM - Former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin is seen as a qualified individual to be the Prime Minister of the country at some point in time.

Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this when asked to comment on the statement made by the Barisan Nasional (BN) Sungai Buloh Parliamentary candidate for the 15th General Election (GE15) which had publicly stated the intention to be Prime Minister.

'He's not saying now (to be PM), it's some point in the future and he's qualified to be the prime minister in the future if we win the election.

"If he receives the support of the party, then KJ will definitely be one of the people who deserve to be appointed as a candidate to be PM one day," he said at the press conference on Wednesday.

He made the remarks after delivering a speech at the Ayer Hitam Parliamentary friendly meet-up with the residents there.

Yesterday, Khairy expressed his intention during his speech at Taman Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh, to lead Umno and then become Prime Minister, one day.

Khairy also said that the intention must be proven through the victory in Sungai Buloh.

Apart from that, Khairy also acknowledged that the move to compete in Sungai Buloh was a challenging one. - AWANI
