Flash floods warning issued in four states

SHAH ALAM – The National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) of the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS) issues a preparedness notice for the possibility of flash floods in several areas involving four states on Wednesday.

According to the notice, Pahang, Selangor, Johor and Sarawak were on the list of locations at risk of flash floods based on rain forecast information from the Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) model by the Malaysian Meteorological Department and the Southeastern Asia-Oceania Flash Flood Guidance System (SAOFFGS).

In Pahang, among the locations at risk are in Rompin district involving Kampung Janglau 1,2 dan 3; Kampung Serikin; Kampung Setajam; Kampung Pianggu and Kampung Sarang Tiong.

In Selangor, it involves Klang district which is in Kampung Delek; Jalan Kebun Nenas; Kampung Jawa; Taman Melawis; Teluk Pulai; Taman Petaling; Taman Sentosa; Taman Saujana; Taman Rashna; Kampung Bukit Naga; Batu 8; Jalan Bukit Kemuning and Pandamaran.

In Johor it involves two districts in Mersing namely in Kampung Air Tawar; Kampung Semaloi; Kampung Asli Labong; Sungai Padang; Kampung Kuria Batu 4 and Mukim Triang.

Meanwhile, in Pontian involving Kampung Bugis Batu 6; Kampung Parit Jerman; Kampung Penerok; Jalan Makam; Kampung Penghulu Bakar; Kampung Permas dan Kampung Parit Sulaiman.

In Kuching, Sarawak, the notice issued was for Kampung Batu Kitang; Batu Kitang KM10; Kampung Stenggang; Kampung Bratan dan Kampung Selampit.

In addition, in Serian, the area listed were Taman Duranda Mas; Kampung Duras Batu 16 and 17, Jalan Kuching-Tapah Lama; Jalan Kampung Batu Gong and Siburan Bazaar.

PRABN said that there was a risk of flash floods in some of the locations involved in the event of heavy rain or a significant thunderstorm.

"The preparedness notice was issued to enable all residents, especially those in risk areas to be aware of any possibility of flash floods.
