KOTA MARUDU - Muda’s candidate for the Kota Marudu parliamentary seat Sharizal Denci has invited two of the constituency’s candidates for a debate and to present each others’ manifesto in removing Kota Marudu from the list of the most poorest districts in the country.

Sharizal said the invitation was specially extended to the seat’s incumbent Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili and Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) candidate Datuk Wetrom Bahanda.

"To remove Kota Marudu from the list of the most poorest districts, we must have a leader who is credible, fresh and with a mission and vision.

"I invite Datuk Seri Maximus and Datuk Wetrom to debate and present their manifestos, offers, ways on how to lift Kota Marudu out of poverty," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

This, he said was to enable the people to evaluate the candidates contesting in Kota Marudu.

"Let the people evaluate themselves. The invitations were sent to the operations room of each candidate. The court is open wide for the sake of a peaceful and prosperous Kota Marudu," he said.

Sharizal will face a six-cornered fight in the 15th General Election (GE15) with Maximus from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Wetrom, Mohd Azmi Zulkiflee (Pejuang), Zainuddin Kuminding (Warisan) and Norman Tulang (Independent).

During GE14, Maximus who was Minister in Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) won the seat with a majority of 1,774 votes.
