Certain parts of Shah Alam hit by flash floods

SHAH ALAM - Several areas here were hit by flashfloods following heavy rain since 3pm today.

Facebook users posted several pictures and videos showing flashfloods with several homes affected by the downpour.

Some of the areas affected by the floods include Section 17, Section 24, Section 25 and Padang Jawa nearby.

One of the Facebook users, Mardiana Marmono, 40, said the water at housing area in Alam Impian, Section 17, was up by 0.3 metres at 4.30pm.

As she waded through the floodwaters to return to her home, she witnessed several vehicles being forced to turn back due to floods.

"When I got back, (the water level) was high too. I saw several cars stuck in flood, unable to move," she said.

Water in Tinta Alam Impian was knee-high. "But they (residents) say (the water) has receded,"

Meanwhile, one of the residents of Padang Jawa, here, Masripah Ibrahim, 56, said there was an overflow in his neighbourhood tiday evening.

But she said the flooding began to recede quickly due to a large drain in front of his house.
