GE15: MCA is stable, no division issue, Wee says
KUANTAN - The external perception that MCA is divided is not true as it has never happened.
Its President Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong said until now there had been no fragments even when there was a crisis in the leadership of the party.
He said all of the MCA leadership were always in a team and in the efforts to take over all areas contested by BN in the 15th General Election (GE15).
"There are no divisions in MCA, ever since I became the president there was not even a single fragmentation. We work as a team, whatever matter we consult each other.
"The MCA leadership has no crisis and internal party issues, In fact, we work for the people, and I feel that in this question, BN and MCA are the joint-favorite parties.
"In BN we have the component parties between Umno, MCA, MIC. We have a foundation and are not seen as confused. In fact we are compatible and had the high commitment to ensure we win in the election," he said at the press conference in the MCA Indera Makhota Office, here, on Tuesday.
Wee was present at the Indera Makhota Parliament to give his support for Datuk Quek Tai Seong as the candidate.
The support was given towards the Beserah State Assembly candidate Datuk Mustaffar Kamal Ab Hamid and Semambu State Assembly candidate Khairul Hisham Omar.
When asked about MCA's chances to win the Indera Makhota Parliamentary seat as ell as the Teruntum state seat, he explained BN could be able to perform a surprise following the potential of the three candidates placed in the area.
"We are confident that this is a series of three very intimate, close relationships and I hope there will be a surprise for us to take bake the seat we lost a few terms ago.
"We see the potential on the candidates contesting and we have moved towards the right direction with the spirit and the relationship to contribute to victory," he stated.
He commented on the MCA candidate momentums in the Parliamentary and state seat, he said he believes that the seat contested could still be won.
However Wee said the candidates must be vigilant to ensure success is on BN's side.
"Don't get too confident, my area (Ayer Hitam), I expected a 50-50 shot, we must fight and work hard to win," he said.
