Both the candidates expressed that they were fortunate for being given the opportunity to be candidates even though the Siamese community is a minority race in Perlis.
They expressed the desire to voice out the aspirations of young people, who previously tended to make their opinions known on social media, as their the main mission.
Natthavuth a/l Seng, the PH-PKR candidate who is in the fray for the Chuping state seat, said young people should be given the opportunity to govern the country one day as practised by developed countries.
"It cannot be denied that the previous government has given opportunities to the younger generation, but we hope that in the future more young people will be given the opportunity to govern the country because they will be the heirs of our country one day," the Chuping native told Bernama here. today.
Natthavuth, 26, who is a former engineer at an international company, said that young people are now wise to judge which leaders are suitable to govern the country.
The same views were shared by Pramoot a/l Puan , 52, from PN-Bersatu , who is the coalition's candidate for the Indera Kayangan state seat.
"The young people are actually wise in making assessments. We want to represent them and bring their voices to the higher ups," said Pramoot, who has worked in banking for over 20 years.
The local said the voice of these young people is important in driving the country to greater heights and should be emphasised.
According to data released by the Election Commission (EC), as of Oct 9, Perlis has 198,784 voters who are in the 18 to 39 years age group. - BERNAMA
