SHAH ALAM - Aggressive measures to call on the public especially youths to exercise their voting rights continue to be strengthened by the Rasuah Busters team through the #SatuJari Bebas Rasuah campaign.

Rasuah Busters head of youth, social media and branding, Nik Justin Nik Mohd Ariffin said #SatuJari Bebas Rasuah is a campaign of hope by people for the people to see more of the general public voting in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said the campaign was a movement to empower the people through electoral votes to choose leaders who were clean, trustworthy, honest and wise.

Nik Justin said the mass movement effort was launched to focus on building an awareness of togetherness by the people especially the young people, namely Gen Z and Gen Y.

"This important #SatuJari Bebas Rasuah campaign aims to raise the spirit and awareness of the absolute rights of the people, especially the youths of Gen Z and Gen Y so that they rise up and go out to vote.

"Almost 50 per cent of Malaysians who are eligible to vote are Gen Z and Gen Y who will determine the direction of Malaysia and stabilise the nation’s political world," he told the Rasuah Busters crew on Saturday.

Commenting further, Nik Justin said that youth who were unbothered to vote would give a huge impact on the process of nation-building and efforts to drive Malaysia's economy.

For example, he said, the presence of groups being idle and ignored the importance of voting such as Parti Aku Malas Undi (Pamu) should be removed from the perspective of society especially young ones.

He said if such issues were not dealt with properly among young people, it would leave a big impact on the statistics of the number of people who go out to vote.

He explained that Gen Z, aged 18 to 29-years, had a large group of 6,007,978 eligible voters, while Gen Y, aged 30 to 39-years, totals 4,681,348 people.

"It is a large portion out of all Malaysians who are eligible to vote, which are 21,173,638 people.

"For that reason, it is very important to restore the spirit and discouragement of the people of the country towards their rights which seem to have been robbed by irresponsible political manipulation after GE14 until now," he said.

Nik Justin said the Rasuah Busters team targeted 80 per cent of those who would go out to vote in GE15 if aggressive efforts could be mobilised to raise awareness among all levels of society.

He said, the #SatuJari Bebas Rasuah campaign started on Oct 18 on every Rasuah Busters platform, in addition to receiving full support from various mass media, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and Rasuah Busters affiliates.

He added that all campaign materials could be downloaded by anyone and the general public was encouraged to spread and promote as they wish, in accordance with the objectives and mission of the #SatuJari Bebas Rasuah campaign.
