TENOM - The nomination process for the Tenom Parliament candidate which takes place at the Antanom DSP Hall turns chaotic when the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) is believed to have fired tear gas in the area.

Three videos with the duration of six seconds, 19 seconds and one minute two seconds were circulated on social media which allegedly showed the situation in the grounds of the nomination centre where supporters marched and tried to enter the hall while the police were seen throwing tear gas in the area.

It was not known if any provocations had occurred earlier.

Also seen were supporters who carried the flag of the Social Welfare Democratic Party (KDM) led by Datuk Peter Anthony.

It was learnt that Peter's nomination was rejected by the Election Commission (EC) during the nomination process.

So far, Sinar Harian had not received any confirmation from the police and the Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah refused to comment on it.

Previously, the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court sentenced Peter to three years in prison and a fine of RM50,000 after he was found guilty of forging a letter on the Mechanical and Electrical System (M&E) maintenance and service contract at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
