ARAU - Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim finally ends the guessing game when he confirms his candidacy using Perikatan Nasional's (PN) ticket for the Arau Parliamentary seat against BN in the 15th General Election (GE15).

The official announcement regarding the candidates in GE15 using the PN ticket was scheduled to take place at the Perlis PN candidate introduction ceremony in the Kangar Pas Complex tonight.

Shahidan's candidacy received the blessings of central PN and became the coalition’s hope to gain its victory in Arau Parliament and all five state assembly seats.

Shahidan said he was determined to go all out against BN candidate Datuk Rozabil Abd Rahman in Arau Parliament.

"Not only Pas and Bersatu supporters support me, I want Umno to support me too.

“This is because I have organised all work motions (for Umno) in Arau from A to Z all this while.

"Suddenly it was rejected, they took a non-division committee, an outsider.

“In Arau, it will be the Muafakat Nasional model. Insya-Allah besides the Arau Parliament, four state seats are in our hands and one other was on hold," he said on Thursday.

BN on Tuesday removed Shahidan's name to contest in the Arau Parliamentary seat and announced Rozabil as the replacement candidate in the area.

State PN Chairman Mohd Shukri Ramli said Pas supporters were prepared to give their support for Shahidan because his candidacy was not only made by Central but was agreed in the state level as well.

"The candidate’s letter of appointment was given to the Central level and Shahidan's name representing Arau PN as a candidate would be announced tonight in the Perlis PN candidate introduction.

"Shahidan's participation indirectly gave the advantage to PN not only in Arau but Perlis as a whole," he said.
