SHAH ALAM - Sungai Buloh Barisan Nasional (BN) Candidate Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar on Thursday explains why he is contesting in the area for the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said it was not a matter of him being the Health Minister and the fact that the Sungai Buloh Hospital was located at the area.

"That was not the one reason I came to Sungai Buloh, for three terms I have become the people's representative in Rembau, it has villages as well as suburban areas.

"I have done my best to develop Rembau. Thank you to all Rembau voters for your support," he said in a video uploaded on his social media.

Khairy explained that he saw the future trends of Malaysians living in the cities and migrated out of villages such as Rembau.

He stated at the time, Malaysia had reached 77 per cent urbanisation and they realised BN was not the voters’ choice in urban areas.

"If BN wants to change towards a better direction, we must be brave to offer our services in urban areas.

“We can't only become the people's representatives at the outskirts of Malaysia, we need to become the Malaysian representatives and muster the courage to offer our service to the cities.

"When we represent the people of the cities, our policies would take into account the issues faced by a majority of the Malaysian people that is the residents of urban areas.

"This does not negate the development of rural or suburban areas. That is very important but let's not assume that all city residents have it easy," he explained.

Khairy said city life was quite challenging with a multitude of issues such as cost of living, homes, access to health clinics, traffic jams, public transport, flash floods and environmental issues.

He said one suggestion to solve it would be given by him regarding the matter in the Sungai Buloh Manifesto that would be announced in a few days.

"After I have cared for the village areas for three terms, I am prepared for a new challenge. I want to come to the city and fight for you.

"Sungai Buloh is an area that needed a new offer to solve the issues faced by city residents," he said.
