GE15: Syed Saddiq defending Muar seat
SINAR HARIAN REPORTERSMUAR - The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman will remain in the running to defend his seat in the Muar Parliament in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Syed Saddiq's nomination was announced by Muda deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz at a hotel in Muar, tonight.
Syed Saddiq who is the incumbent of the seat would compete with BN candidate Helmy Abdul Latif and PN candidate Abdullah Husin.
"I am back this year to defend Muar and defend the people of Malaysia.
"Muar is so close to my heart because this is my first opportunity. I am determined to always be with the people of Muar," said Syed Saddiq when speaking at the announcement ceremony for the Muda candidates in Muar tonight.
In GE14, Syed Saddiq who was the PH candidate from Bersatu defeated the incumbent Muar parliamentary seat Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim (BN) and Abdul Aziz Talib (PAS) with a majority of 6,953 votes.
Previously, Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that the coalition would cooperate with Muda in GE15.
The Election Commission (EC) set the day of voting for GE15 on Nov 19 with candidate nominations set for on November 5.
Early voting would be held on Nov 15.
