SHAH ALAM - Former Jeli MP Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed will not defend his seat in the constituency due to health issues.

In a statement today, Mustapha or fondly known as Tok Pa said that after consultation with his doctor about his health, it was decided that his health was not at the most optimum to continue to be the people's representative.

Hence, he expressed his gratitude to the people in Jeli for their endless support and cooperation.

“In this regard, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the people in the Jeli Parliament constituency who have always given support and cooperation throughout my planning of the socio-economic development agenda in the Jeli Parliament since 1995.

“Indeed, I greatly appreciate the trust given to me all this time to represent people in Jeli Parliament,” he said.

Mustapha, who is also the caretaker Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) extended his gratitutede to the members of Cabinet, government leadership, federal public servants and State and Party for the assistance through his service in politics.

Yesterday, Perikatan Nasional (PN) unveiled most of its candidates contesting at 169 parliamentary constituencies for the 15th General Election (GE15), but Mustapha’s name was not mentioned.
