BANGI - Ibrahim Ali, the deputy leader of Kelantan Gabungan Tanah Air (GTA) says they are taking part in elections not to deliver ‘watikah’ or a letter of candidacy but to deliver the ‘keris’ to save the country.

He said they have joined in the election race not to "fight to be a minister, but to save our country from those irresponsible."

"Don't be defensive, a lot of accusations saying that Pejuang is Mahathir’s personal agenda, punya sial (that does not make sense)," he said before the coalition which is contesting under Pejuang announced their candidates for GE15.

He said Pejuang chairman Tun Mahathir Mohamad has withdrawn from politics after his 15 year premiership and "he passed the responsibility to other leaders.

"What happened after? Our country has only worsened.

"If Tun is crazy for power, he would not withdraw from his position in 2004 as the premier. If the situation calls for it, if there is no one else to help this country, he should lead us," he said.

He added that the candidates would not have a walk in the park after being chosen as the candidates, instead the fight would not be easy.

He hoped for the candidates who received the ‘keris taming sari’ to be serious and not complain because there are also others who wanted it but there is not enough ‘keris’ for everyone.

“Fight until we succeed, and don’t give up easily after saying that you want to be the candidate.

“When I was a candidate, I did not sleep because I needed to put up the banners and all that myself. So I call out to you all to come out and fight!,” he said.

Earlier, Pejuang announced 121 candidates to contest in Parliament seats for the 15th General Election (GE15).

The party also informed that the candidates for state assembly seats would be made public at their state level later.
