GE15: Only 17 women in Peninsula contesting from BN
KUALA LUMPUR - Barisan Nasional (BN) introduced 17 women candidates to contest in the 15th General Election (GE15).
The names were announced by BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi last night at Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL) here.
From the 17 seats, 10 of were from Umno, six from MCA and one from MIC.
According to the states, Perlis and Pahang has one woman candidate respectively, two from Penang and Kelantan each, while three women in Kedah, Selangor and Johor respectively.
All women chiefs from the three component parties were named candidates; Wanita Umno Chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad in Parit Sulong, Puteri Wanita Chief in Perlis Datuk Seri Zahida Zarik Khan in Padang Besar and MIC Wanita Chief Datuk Mohana Muniandy. Former MCA Youth Chief and the first female to head the wing, Datuk Nicole Wong Siaw Ting will also contest in Tebrau.

17. Nicole Wong Siaw Ting (Tebrau)
All 17 women seats are in Peninsular Malaysia while seats in Sabah and colaition partners in Sarawak has yet to be announced.
Zahid announced 160 parliamentary seats to be contested in GE15 to be held on Nov 19, which received an overwhelming support by their supporters.
GE15 Nomination Day will be held on Nov 5.
