MIC absence strengthens speculation GE15 boycott
KUALA LUMPUR - Barisan Nasional component party leaders MIC were nowhere to be seen at BN’s candidates announcement for the 15th General Election (GE15) tonight.
Sinar Daily’s checks at Dewan Tun Hussein Onn at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre found no MIC leaders or representatives present.
Earlier, a local news portal claimed that the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) had called an emergency meeting on tomorrow morning to discuss the possibility of withdrawing from the polls this time around.
The emergency meeting is believed to be held at 10am tomorrow at its Kuala Lumpur headquarters.
MIC was expected to contest in 10 parliamentary seats and three state seats in Perak and one in Pahang for GE15.
BN Chairman and Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has not mentioned MIC in his welcoming speech as of 9.23pm.
