ALOR SETAR - The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has dropped to 75 people as of 2pm today, from 95 people in the morning.

Head of the Secretariat Division of the Disaster Management Committee of the Kedah Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Major (PA) Muhammad Suhaimi Mohd Zain said this followed the closure of the relief centre (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Binjai in Kubang Pasu after all the evacuees there returned home.

The PPS was opened last Oct 26 and closed at 1.15pm today, he said in a statement today.

He said the remaining evacuees, comprising 75 people from 25 families, were at the PPS at SK Suka Menanti, in the Kota Setar district, which was opened last Friday.

On the weather, he said, it was still raining in Kota Setar, but the water level in the three rivers in the district, namely Sungai Anak bukit in Taman Aman, Sungai Anak Bukit at Jambatan Tar and Sungai Kedah at Jambatan Lebuhraya has returned to normal. - BERNAMA
