SHAH ALAM - Bersatu vice-president Datuk Wira Rafiq Naizamohideen has quit the party failing to be nominated for Tangga Batu Parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said he was disappointed that the party has overlooked all his efforts in the area to help the party and community.

“I am sad when all my efforts and service in Tangga Batu for more than 6 years has not been given fair and proper consideration.

“Various initiatives and programmes to help the people such as Gerai Prihatin Rakyat were introduced for the community even though it no longer had government allocation,” he said in a statement.

He further said that the party structure is no longer respected since it has become a practice and tradition for any political party in the country to give priority to the party's top leadership to be considered as a candidate in the area they lead.

He said he has decided to quit the party with immediate effect and focus on his wife, children as well as family and he will continue to support the party through another platform.

“Although I am not contesting for this GE15, my friends and I will continue to fight and provide our services through an NGO," he said.
