Kon Yeow to contest in Batu Kawan, Guan Eng stays in Bagan
SYAJARATULHUDA MOHAMAD ROSLIGEORGETOWN - Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow who was previously Tanjong MP has been named Batu Kawan MP in the 15th General Election (GE15).
He replaces incumbent Batu Kawan MP Kasthuri Patto who announced that she will not be contesting in GE15.
Meanwhile, former DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng will remained at the Bagan seat.
The matter was announced by DAP Secretary General Anthony Loke Siew Fook at Persiaran Karpal Singh, here, today.
Besides Lim, RSN Rayer (Jelutong), Steven Sim Chee Keong (Bukit Mertajam) and Ramkarpal Singh (Bukit Gelugor) retained their respective Parliamentary seats.
DAP also presented two new faces, both female candidates, Lim Hui Ying and Syerleena Abdul Rashid.
Hui Ying, the younger sister of Guan Eng, is also the Penang DAP Secretary is Tanjong PH candidate and replaces Kon Yeow.
Meanwhile, Syerleena became the second Malay woman candidate nominated by DAP in GE15 and will contest in the Bukit Bendera.
Syerleena who is currently a member of the Seri Delima State Assembly replaces the Bukit Bendera incumbent, Wong Hon Wai who gave up the seat to focus on the state level.
