Amanah to contest in 54 seats, Khalid Samad to go to Titiwangsa

KUALA LUMPUR - Amanah will be contesting 54 seats in the 15th General Election (GE15).

During a press conference Amanah president, Mohamad Sabu said the party will be contesting an additional 14 seats compared to the last general election.

The candidates include seven women, in which the party has improved in fulfilling the 30 per cent women quota in the political party.

Mohamad or commonly known as Mat Sabu will defend his Kota Raja seat while Amanah communications chief Khalid Abdul Samad will fight for Malay votes in Titiwangsa.

Party’s deputy president Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub will be contesting in Pulai and Vice President Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa will defend his Parit Buntar seat.

Former Shah Alam MP, Khalid Samad said those who will not be defending their seats have done a great job, however the party has decided to give an opportunity to new faces in the GE15.

“It is a process that we have explained to those in the party.

“There are those who will not be contesting again in the election to make way for new faces that deserved to be given a chance this time,” he said during a press conference held at Wisma Amanah Negara, here, today.

Amanah also announced that there is an increase of 35 per cent of new seats from the last election and PH President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be signing their letter of candidacy.
