SHAH ALAM - Warisan and independent candidates will take ‘some’ urban votes but the matter remains to be seen in the coming elections, said PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.

In a multi-cornered fight, he said the top two parties will usually command the most votes and the underdogs will not garner much support.

“The voters know that at the end of the day the smaller parties will not make any difference.

“I think they (independent candidates) will take some (votes) but I don't think they will make a deep impact,” he told Sinar Daily.

Commenting further, Rafizi, the Pandan candidate said PKR focuses on selecting competent good candidates and a good mix of people.

“We want to make sure it is a good team, good mix of people, so that if we become the government, it is not just about good academic or party background, but we are competent as well,” he said.

He added that, if it happens, they will need to convince the rakyat that they have proper plans to resolve issues faced by the rakyat including cost of living, wages, infrastructure and many more.

“If we are able to do that, it doesn't really matter how many corner fights we have because the public will swing to the party that can convince them the most,” he added.
