GE15: Most Malay voters want to see BN as ruling coalition - Survey
SHAH ALAM - The 15th General Election (GE15) is just around the corner and political parties are busy making preparations to go against their opponents in the race to become the new government.
Based on O2 Malaysia (O2) survey conducted on 1,105 voters, majority of the supporters of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) wanted to see cooperation between the two coalitions if they fail to win a simple majority to form a government.
Meanwhile, the majority of Malay voters viewed that Umno and Pas should cooperate in GE15 while Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters were still torn on having a cooperation between political parties after GE15.
According to the survey, most Malay voters supported BN, followed by PN and PH.
Meanwhile, Muda was an alternative choice for the Chinese following their support towards PH have declined.
PH’s decision accepting Muda as its political alliance would strengthen the votes by the Chinese voters.
However, according to the survey, it was challenging for Muda to obtain support from young Malay voters below 30 compared to other major parties.
Around two fifths of the voters still have not decided on the party of their choice for the election and the fence-sitters will have an influence on the voting result.
Majority of PH voters have expressed that they wanted PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the next Prime Minister while the young supporters had three names in mind for the Prime Minister candidate. They were PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.
Meawhile, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was on top of the list of the BN voters as Prime Minister while majority of PN voters wanted to see Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang as Prime Minister.
