SEPANG - Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is confident to win the Gombak seat previously won by Cabinet minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali under PKR ticket.

Azmin joined Bersatu after the Sheration Move in 2020 which caused the sudden collapse of elected Pakatan Harapan government.

"With our work and 'track record', I am confident of winning but it is not an easy thing, it means there are challenges because (in the past) we working as a team, now we are in different teams.

"The opportunity is there, the voice of our people is heard and I will try my best and the best for Pakatan Harapan," he said at the launch of Melur's Dream House and the Selangor Penyayang Sepang Tree Planting Programme, here, today.

On Friday, PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced Amirudin as the PKR candidate for Gombak Parliamentary seat.

Amirudin also believes there will be a split of voters if incumbent Azmin decides to contest in Gombak.

"We can say that only 10 to 20 percent of the party (PKR) members follow Azmin," he said.

Azmin won the Gombak seat in 2008 under PKR ticket. In GE14, he won with a majority of 48,721 before joining Bersatu in 2020.
