Voting may seem basic but it is a form of activism, youths told
KUALA LUMPUR - Youth play a huge responsibility in deciding the nation's future through 15th General Election (GE15).
Perdana Fellows Alumni Association president Mistika Idris said as youth aged 18 and above are now allowed to participate and vote in the GE15, they should come out to vote.
“The decision they make will affect future financial, climate change and economic policies,” she said at Youth Economic Forum held at Sasana Kijang, today,
Meanwhile caretaker Finance Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz said the election this time around will be a battle for emotions for youths.
“Voting may seem like something very basic but it too is a form of activism because you are taking responsibility for your country’s future.
“The stakes this round are high, do not gamble the future of our country recklessly. Do not leave your future in the mercy of others,” he said.
He urged youths to exercise their democratic right and responsibility as a citizen to vote on Nov 19.
