Malay voters rooting for representatives who could bring economic growth, improve welfare in GE15
SHAH ALAM - Most of the Malay voters in the country are rooting for a representative who is able to bring economic growth and improve the welfare of the people in their respective areas.
According to O2 Malaysia (O2) survey on a total of 1,105 respondents, as of Oct 10, 73.1 per cent of the Malay voters will vote for candidates whom they think would be able to do so in the 15th General Election (GE15).
O2 also found that 67.6 per cent of the Malays would vote for candidates who will be able to be the voice of the ordinary people.
A total of 50.9 per cent of the respondents expressed that they wanted to vote for politicians and political party with good reputation.
Meanwhile, around 34.4 per cent of the respondents were hoping for the political party that will form the government after GE15 to represent the voices of their (voters) respective groups in terms of ethnicity, gender and age.
Based on the survey, 29.9 per cent of Malay voters wanted for their voices as an individual to be heard and would choose a political party that was able to fulfill their wishes.
On Oct 20, The Election Commission (EC) announced that Malaysians will go to the polls for GE15 on Nov 19, with early voting set for Nov 15.
Its chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh during a press conference announced that nominations will be on Nov 5.
